ANGELS AND WHAAAAAT?

Religion and Science, two different paths seeking for one truth, Great Power!

Angels and Demons is a New York Times bestselling mystery-thriller novel of Dan Brown. It introduces the character of the symbologist, Robert Langdon. It shares different stories about religion and science. Ancient history that tells about religion and science's long time debate or war about how things started, where we came from and how we became like this.

The story started when a physicist, Leonardo Vetra from CERN was brutally killed and marked with an ambigram of ILLUMINATI. The mark became controversial because history was saying that the Illuminati were dissolved 400 years ago.

    What is Illuminati?

Illuminati  [ɪˌluːmɪˈnɑːtiː] -  a group of persons claiming exceptional enlightenment on some subject, esp religion.

     Simply, the enlightened ones.

It was said that well-known scientists and sculptors like Galileo Galilei, GianLorenzo Bernini etc. were among the members of the said secret society.

The plot follows Harvard symbologist Robert Langdon in his quest to stop the illuminati from destroying the Vatican City using the newly discovered antimatter from CERN. Along the way, the four preferiti were discovered missing and was said kidnapped by the messenger of the illuminati(assassin).

They were brutally killed and marked by the four elements. Earth, air, fire and water.

As the story goes on, different secret codes and symbols were revealed. And a path was becoming clearer, the path to the Church of Illumination.

Angels and Demons is one heck of a novel. It revealed different issues that were once said to be true. A fictional story with a lot of given facts about history,  churches and sculptures would likely have shaken your faith. Kudos to the writer!

The Catholic Church is not a corporation! It's a beacon! A source of inspiration for a billion lost and frightened souls! "

Keeping it Fresh this Summer Season!

School's out people! All you summer loving gals are definitely up for basking in the sun and enjoying months of freedom from homework, papers, and late night study sessions.

Of course you can't just go out bare-faced. A little makeup will always do you good especially when your crush is just around the block. But with the smoldering heat, going out on full makeup is a big no-no. You'll have your face melting the moment you step out of the house.

So what's the best way to enhance your looks this summer? By going Au Naturale of course! The barely there makeup look will keep you looking fresh and glowing without putting on a ton of powders, creams and gels on your face and neck. Here's how you can achieve it:

1. Keep Your Face Squeaky Clean

Nothing compares to working on a clean canvass. Keep yo u face free of dirt and oil not just this summer but all seasons of the year. Remember that good skin care makes you put on lets you put on less makeup because there'll be less to cover up.

Maintain the skincare mantra: Cleanse-Tone-Moisturize. Wash your face in the morning and at night using your favorite cleanser, remove microscopic dirt using a toner, and don't forget to pamper your face and neck with moisturizer.

Tip: pamper your face and neck with an ice facial before putting on any makeup. This will constrict your pores and minimize facial swelling.

2. Say "NO" to Foundation

Summer makeup is light, fresh and natural so there's no need for heavy foundation. Instead, use a tinted moisturizer to even out your skin tone and to give your skin more moisture. Choose a tinted moisturizer with SPF and/or sunscreen to protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays. Don't forget to set it with translucent powder.

3. Conceal Imperfections

If you have dark circles under your eyes or pimple marks that are yet to vanish from this earth, try neutralizing them first with your trusted concealer. Remember to apply with a patting motion and don't rub it on you delicate eye area.

4. Brighten Up your Eyes

Use eye brighteners instead of dark shadows. Line your eyes lightly with either brown or black eyeliner. If you're feeling adventurous, use  colored eyeliner like blue or green to make your eyes pop. And don't forget to curl y our lashes to make your eyes open up.

5. Bloom with Blush

While powder blushes are easy to control, opt for either a cheek stain or gel blush that won't come sliding down your face with the heat. They have more staying power and they appear more natural giving you a glow from within. If you're on the warmer side, use bronzer instead to give you an unmistakable glow.

Tip: If you want to achieve the tanned look without exposing yourself to harmful sun rays, you can use bronzer to highlight your nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. Don't forget your neck, your arms and your legs too!

6. Go for Sweet Lips

Always wear lip balm with SPF and/or sunscreen. Your kissers need special attention too you know. For color, you can use a peachy lip gloss or lipstick to keep your look subdued yet sweet. Alternatively, you can use a lip stain instead to achieve that just-bitten look.

Plus 50 cents and Domino Effects

Starting today, the minimum passenger jeepney fare would be 8.50 pesos as it was approved yesterday by the Land Transportation and Franchising Regulatory Board (LTFRB). This increase in fare is only provisional while LTFRB is hearing the petition by other transport groups to increase fare up to 2 pesos. And yet, nobody is happy with this decision; even transport groups.

So what do different key players have to say?

Transport Groups say...

...with the tiny amount of 50 centavos, their pockets will still be empty at the end of roaming around cities and provinces because most of their profits will still go to gas. What with the quick rise in gas prices, a mere 50 centavos won't help them much. This is why they are pushing for a 2 pesos increase which the LTFRB is still hearing.

The Labor Sector says...

...it's high time to pass the 90 pesos increase in wages! The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines reiterated its call for a complimentary increase in the labor force's wages. According to TUCP, with this increase in fare, ever sector will be affected especially their own. In turn, the prices of basic goods will also increase, thus affecting the consumers as well.

The House Committee on Labor says...

...while t Malacanang is egging on the House Committee to decide on the 90 pesos increase on wages, the latter is still refusing to approce the 125 pesos across the board wage increase. The committee says that 125 pesos is too much on the part of the business sector. Not all businesses would be able to afford this hike and if this would be approved, many laborers would eventually lose their job to compensate for the increase in salary.

The Passengers Say...

...it's another fare hike we have to endure while salaries remain low. Students complain that their meager allowance would be insufficient due to another increase in fare and some might have to stop going to school altogether. Parents, in turn continue having headaches as they figure out how to make ends meet everyday in the midst of increases in the price of goods, in fare, and even in tuition fee.

Perhaps as a way of consoling the public, LTFRB directs that the 5o centavos increase would only remain as long as diesel prices remain high. As soon as gas prices roll back, fare would revert to the minimum 8 pesos.

Book Love: The Alchemyst by Michael Scott

Fans of Harry Potter know him all too well, that elusive man who was the only known maker of the philosopher's stone: Nicholas Flamel.

Mr. Flamel is now made immortal by prolific writer Michael Scott in his own book series under the title The Secretes of the Immortal Nicholas Flamel.

Fans of history, legend, science, and adventure would love this books as it features Josh and Sophie Newman, the so-called twins of legend who faces the adventure of a lifetiome to save mankind under the tutelage of Nicholas and his wife Perenelle together with various human and inhuman characters. The book would bring the readers to an exhilarating journey through various places in the world and in different shadowrealms created by Elders.

Sophie and Josh Newman are 15 year-old twins who are working at their summer jobs in San Francisco when a mysterious man, John Dee, comes into Josh's workplace for a book, the Codex – or Book of Abraham the Mage. Sophie and Josh witness Nick and Perry, the book store's owners, using magic. They discover that Nick is not an ordinary bookseller, but is the medieval alchemist, Nicholas Flamel, being kept alive by making the elixir of life (a secret from theCodex) for him and his wife, Perry (Perenelle). Dee also uses magic and takes the Codex by force while Josh is holding it – resulting in two pages being left behind. Both Flamels need the Codex to make the elixir of life, or they will age rapidly and die within a month. Also, if they do not retrieve the Codex, Dee will summon the Dark Elders to destroy the world and return to an age in which humans are but slaves and food.

The Alchemyst is perfect for summer reading and if you don't think one book is enough, be sure to catch the sequels to the first book: The Magician, The Sorceress, The Necromancer, Warlock, and Enchantress.

Life Saving Google Docs

Google has done it again! It's no longer just a search engine, e-mail service provider and social networking site. Ladies and gentlemen, get your hearts ready for Google Docs!

Google Docs is Google's "software as a service" office suite. Documents, spreadsheets, presentations can be created with Google Docs, imported through the web interface, or sent via email. Documents can be saved to a user's local computer in a variety of formats (ODF, HTML, PDF, RTF, Text, Microsoft Office). Documents are automatically saved to Google's servers to prevent data loss, and a revision history is automatically kept so past edits may be viewed (although this only works for adjacent revisions, and there is currently no way to find and isolate changes in long documents.). Documents can be tagged and archived for organizational purposes. The service is officially supported on recent versions of the Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari and Chrome browsers running on Microsoft Windows, Apple OS X, and Linux operating systems.

Google Docs serves as a collaborative tool for editing amongst in real time. Documents can be shared, opened, and edited by multiple users at the same time. Users cannot be notified of changes, but the application can notify users when a comment or discussion is made or replied to, facilitating collaboration. There is no way to highlight changes made by a particular editor in real time during a writing session, nor a way to jump to the changes made. However, users can usually see where in the document or file a particular editor is currently writing, since in most of the suite's products, an editor's current position is represented with an editor-specific color/cursor. Also, the revision history included in the service allows users to see the changes made to a document, distinguished by editor, using their specific color. The application supports two ISO standard document formats: OpenDocument (for both opening and exporting) and Office Open XML (for opening only). It also includes support for proprietary formats such as .doc and .xls.

So if you want to make creating, storing, and sharing documents easier, all you need to do is to employ the use of Google Docs--life saver for many people out there. For a better guide at how to use this amazing appl from Google, follow this link http://www.google.com/google-d-s/intl/en/tour1.html and you'll be redirected to a tour of Google Docs. Do it, you know you want to.

Thanks, Photoshop!

Because Photoshop is too mainstream, say hello no more to your doctors for there’s an easy way to achieve your dream stature. All you need is a computer with installed Photoshop application. With the technologies they offer, different industries uses this computer software to boost their photos into a better one.
In accordance with this, Preview magazines’ January 2012 issue reaped lots of controversies when the international singing sensation Charice Pempengco’s cover photo was said to be heavily photoshopped.
Preview said, "What the public needs to understand is that Preview doesn't rely on Photoshop to produce its photos. For every Preview shoot, we are proud to say that we assemble the best team and crew."
Netizens drew mixed feedbacks from different social networking sites varying from admiration to outright incredulity.
"If you buy the issue you'll see that Charice looks the same in all the photos. It's difficult to achieve that consistency with Photoshop," the magazine added.
To prove that Charice’s face was not digitally altered, Preview uploaded a behind the scene footage of her photo shoot.

Well, guess what? Charice’s not alone on this issue. The wife of Manny Pacquiao, Jinkee, also harvested lots of reactions and disbelief on her cover photo for the January 2012 issue of Mega magazine. Many argued if it was really Jinkee for it was exaggeratedly photoshopped. Moreover, both Jinkee and Charice trended locally for the debate if it was really them has been so hot.

Apparently, this was not the first time that cover photos were questioned for altering some features of their models. Last August 2009, again, for Mega magazine, Katrina Halili just dazed us for her evidently longed fingers.
Some art designer must have thought that Katrina Halili was too short for the cover of Mega and presumably ordered the resident Photoshop specialist to stretch her out a bit, make her taller and do something with her hands.

Got problems in your anatomy? Worry no more! Photoshop’s on your back! Be the next Photoshop Queen. :P
